Croeso i Dosbarth Wye!
This half term, our exciting topic is “I wonder… why natural disasters happen and how people survive them?”
We’ve already covered a wide range of fascinating learning. We have explored the structure of the Earth, including the crust, mantle, outer core and inner core, developing a clear understanding of how our planet is built. We have also investigated earthquakes, learning how they occur through plate tectonics and exploring the different types of plate boundaries in detail. In addition, we have studied volcanoes, including the different types, the eruption of Pompeii, and interpreted graphs showing ash cloud heights.
There is plenty more to come over the remaining weeks, including learning about tornadoes and tsunamis, as well as how communities prepare for and respond to these natural disasters. It promises to be a busy, engaging and thought-provoking half term!
We are also very excited about our upcoming trip to ‘We The Curious’ in Bristol, which will be a fantastic opportunity to bring our learning to life through hands-on experiences.
A few reminders:
Thank you for your continued support. We’re looking forward to a fantastic half term of learning in Dosbarth Wye!
