Health and Safety

School Security

At Llandough Primary School, the safety and wellbeing of our pupils, staff and visitors is our highest priority. We have a number of measures in place to ensure a secure environment throughout the school day.

The school site is protected by lockable gates at the vehicle entrance, three pedestrian gates around the school, and secure fencing around the perimeter.

The vehicle gates are closed at 9:00am, and the three pedestrian gates are locked at 9:00am and reopened at 3:10pm, helping to maintain a safe and controlled environment during the school day.

All external school doors are locked at 9:00am. After this time, entry to the building is only possible through the main entrance, which is operated electronically.

All visitors must report to the school office on arrival. For safeguarding purposes, visitors are required to sign in and out using the iPad system at Reception. Parents collecting children early (e.g. for medical appointments) must sign their child out, and those arriving late must sign their child in using this system.

For safety, all doors can be easily opened from the inside at any time.

Parking and Road Safety

The beginning and end of the school day are particularly busy. We ask all parents and carers to park considerately:

  • Please do not park directly outside the school gates
  • Avoid parking where visibility for pedestrians is reduced
  • Do not block neighbouring driveways
  • Please do not drive or stop on the school driveway

Parents and carers are responsible for ensuring that children cross the road safely.

Dogs on School Premises

For health and safety reasons, dogs are not permitted on the school site, with the exception of registered Guide Dogs or Hearing Dogs.

If you have a dog with you, please wait outside the school entrance. We appreciate your support with this.
